The Pros:

In order to keep the DeLonghi ESAM3300 in fine working order, you need to do a bit of upkeep each week and use the right beans.

It is preferable to only use non-oily, 100% Arabica beans. If you use oily beans it will clog frequently and attract rancid flavours. There is also a chance that the life of the DeLonghi ESAM3300 will be reduced by using the wrong beans.

The DeLonghi ESAM3300 needs a clean of the brew mechanism once a week. It just needs to be snapped out and rinsed under hot water.

Using spring water in the DeLonghi ESAM3300 rather than tap water, is beneficial and will prevent the spread of odours and unusual flavours going through the machine and getting in the beverage. The DeLonghi ESAM3300 will let you know when it is ready to be de-calcified, and is best to stick to this routine, and to not put it off.

Some people prefer having manual controls over coffee amount, strength, etc. However with the digital controls of the DeLonghi ESAM3300 there is no real difference in the process and final product, other than not being able to have the unit automatically turn on and ready to go when you first wake up. If a real coffee in the morning is needed, the DeLonghi ESAM3300 will certainly achieve this.

The Cons:

The cup warmer on the DeLonghi ESAM3300 does not work very well, but by using double walled cups means the temperature of the product will be improved. It is not possible to turn on the DeLonghi ESAM3300 automatically at a set time, but it only takes a few minutes to get it up to the correct temperature.

The DeLonghi ESAM3300 can be somewhat noisy.

The coffee quality is indeed great. There is an issue with the DeLonghi ESAM3300 in that the knobs have no user markings, which means that if there are several people in the house using the DeLonghi ESAM3300, it is impossible to select the individual settings that were previously used. In terms of the automatic switch off facility, this is fixed at three hours and cannot be altered.

Upon looking inside the machine, thin plastic has been used wherever possible. The coffee transfer path is not well isolated from the rest of the components which results in coffee powder being dropped into the moving motorised assembly at the back of the DeLonghi ESAM3300.
