The Pros:

• The DeLonghi EC155 s quite compact and does not take up too much space on the bench top. It has a pleasant silver metal appearance. The water reservoir on the DeLonghi EC155 is a good size, you can make about 8-10 shots before it needs to be refilled, which is very easy to do. There is a helpful clear section behind the water container which shows the water level.
• The DeLonghi EC155 has a fast heat-up time of only about one minute. It has a good frothing wand, and there is no wait time between frothing and brewing although you do have to wait a little between brewing and frothing.
• The DeLonghi EC155 is competitively priced. The DeLonghi EC155 unit consistently produces a thick layer of delicious creme. It has a powerful steam wand which easily froths milk.
• After six months of almost daily use this DeLonghi EC155 can still work like brand new.
  Also the filter on the DeLonghi EC155 is easy to clean.

The Cons:

• The frothing wand is only 3 1/4 inches from the counter top. This is not too much of a problem with the DeLonghi EC155 and is overcome by using a frothing cup that fits under this height.
  The distance from the grounds basket to the tray is only 2 and a 1/2 inches. This can be overcome by using a small espresso cup.
• The built in tamper on the DeLonghi EC155 is not as good as a separate metal one.
  After brewing with the DeLonghi EC155 the grounds basket is more wet than dry after the espresso is made, so this needs to be tipped down the drain.
• The DeLonghi EC155 makes such a delicious drink that it encourages larger amounts of coffee consumption. The ergonomics could be improved somewhat, especially with the space between the area where the cup sits and the output nozzle. Enlarging this space would be beneficial. Also the steam wand could be a little longer.
• The DeLonghi EC155 does not have a cup warmer. This is not too much of a problem and it does help in keeping the machine down.

The DeLonghi EC155 Espresso Maker is an excellent budget machine available for under $100 that is pump driven. This espresso is very comparable with any coffee bought in an Italian restaurant or other well known cafe. The crema that the DeLonghi EC155 produces is very delicious and gives approximately a ¼ layer of tasty emulsified foam. With only having to warm the machine up for a few minutes, the convenience of making a single shot is favourable.

The best feature about the DeLonghi EC155 Espresso Maker is that it is E.S.E certified (easy serve espresso). This means that you can pick up the ESE certified pods from any good online or offline retailer which means that the grinding and tamping processes of espresso are eliminated. It is important to note that coffee (senseo style) pods will not work in here as those are much larger than the ESE certified pod. Being E.S.E certified is a very admirable feature of the DeLonghi EC155 that even some more expensive machines do not have and is what sets the DeLonghi EC155 above the rest.
